Exclusive Interview with Indian Global Influencer, Diipa Büller-Khosla shares the secret to social media success
Today, Diipa Büller-Khosla is the biggest Indian Influencer, globally, amassing a following of almost one million on Instagram, alone. After studying law, she took a chance by joining an influencer agency in Amsterdam and then ventured into blogging. As they say, the rest is history. Diipa shares her journey as an influencer and a bride.
What has been your career highlight so far?
For me, working with MAC to create a traditional South Asian bridal beauty box was quite special. Recently, I had the opportunity to speak in Parliament for International Women’s Day. Being a woman of colour and having that opportunity was so humbling. But, I think the most special moment was sharing my wedding day with the world.
Speaking of your Big Day, how did you balance planning a destination wedding alongside your busy schedule?
Having great brands by my side definitely helped, Aveda was there for all my haircare needs and Estée Lauder was a key part of my glam squad. MAC ensured all my makeup was perfect and I was lucky enough to have Clinique by my side for all my skincare needs. Not to mention, Jo Malone scenting my entire wedding – which was just so incredible! Truly, it was the people around me that made all the difference. They were my rock! Also, get a planner! I’ve said this a million times already and can’t stress enough. A well-reputed planner will make all the difference to your Big Day.
How would you describe your bridal style?
I didn’t have a definitive style, I had multiple looks crafted with a myriad of talented designers. I had all the fun at my Haldi ceremony with a colourful Ritu Kumar lehenga and felt like true royalty in my Sabyasachi lehenga for the Baraat, which has now entered into his own personal archive for designs. Then I had the ultimate fairytale moment in my Ashi Studio gown. Ashi spent over 1,600 hours creating my bridal trousseau and as soon as I tried it on, I didn’t want to take it off!
If you could go back and make any changes to your wedding. What would they be?
I would go back and be more present. Your wedding is a once in a lifetime experience but as a bride, you can panic and obsess over every little detail. I was guilty of that within the first two days, I wish I had just embraced every crazy and fun moment of it all!
Finally, how has life changed after being married?
Although it hasn’t changed much, there is a sense of responsibility both Oleg and I feel towards one another. Naturally, the next step for us is to start a family – I want five kids! But for now, we are working on getting another dog to complete our little clan.
