The Parent Trap actress Joanna Barnes passes away at 87 after a prolonged illness
Veteran Hollywood actress Joanna Barnes, who has appeared in both films and television, died on Friday, April 29, at her home in The Sea Ranch, California. She was 87 years old and had reportedly been ill for a long time.
Joanna Barnes was a part of both versions of the classic film The Parent Trap. In the original film (1961), she she played the role of Vicky Robinson, while in the 1998 remake, she was seen as Vicki Blake. Apart from this, Joanna has appeared in many films, which include Auntie Mame, Home Before Dark, Spartacus and The War Wagon, among others.
Filmmaker Nancy Meyers took to social media to pay her last respects to Joanna Barnes. She wrote, “Joanna was so lovely. So great to work with. So upbeat and joyful. I was so happy she agreed to play Meredith’s mother after playing Vicky in the original Parent Trap. My condolences to her loved ones (sic).”
Joanna Barnes was also an author and has written many novels, which include The Deceivers (1970), Who Is Carla Hart? (1973), Pastora (1980) and Silverwood (1985).
