Some of the Celebrities Who Don’t Use A Stylist
In the past two decades, fashion stylists have made an entire industry out of dressing celebrities for events. With press tours, awards season and guest appearances on a constant rise in Hollywood, there’s never a shortage of places to be well dressed at for a star.
But getting a dress from a showroom to a red carpet is no easy feat. Between calling an outfit in from a designer, making sure it fits the dress code and the wearer’s personal style, fitting it, transporting it and then styling it, stylists have their work cut out for them.
Which is why it’s both surprising and impressive when celebrities choose to go without one altogether.
Whether it’s for personal reasons or just because they enjoy the process of dressing themselves, several stars over the years have spoken out about forgoing a stylist and how they call in their looks for events. In an ode to the naturally stylish, we’ve counted down some of the celebrities who don’t need anyone’s help to look good.
Olivia Munn
Although she uses Micaela Erlanger on and off, Olivia Munn has been vocal about styling herself. In 2012, she said to People: “I can’t even dress. But the only reason I don’t use a stylist is that I feel like if I’m going to fall, I’d rather it be on me.”
Rachel Bilson
Hart of Dixie star Rachel Bilson doesn’t rely on a stylist to make her look good on the red carpet. “I really dress. I’ve been known to put a necklace in my hair. That’s what getting dressed should be,” she told Vogue US in 2010. “It’s about fun and experimenting. I think you either enjoy it or you don’t—and I do.”
Camilla Belle
Actress Camilla Belle has admitted she uses a stylist… although not a professional one. The Lost World: Jurassic Park star says her mother helps her pick out her looks.
“I was a very well-dressed child,” Belle told InStyle. “She’s really taught me everything I know, frankly, and really exposed me to this world from a very early age. Why not stick with what works? I know she has no agenda.”
